Customer: Aauw

Visual structure for research that needs to resonate

AAUW’s “Solving the Equation” report tackled a critical issue: why there are so few women in engineering and computing—and what we can do to change that. The research was deep, the findings urgent, and the scope broader than anything the organization had published to date.

With 141 pages and nearly 40 data visuals, the challenge was clear: create a report that could handle this scale without sacrificing clarity, consistency, or visual interest.

My approach

I led the visual direction, layout, and data design for the full report in close collaboration with AAUW’s communications team and research staff.

Here’s what I did:

  • Created all custom infographics and data visualizations—39 in total—translating Excel files into clear, color-consistent, brand-aligned visuals
  • Designed the report cover and internal system of visual elements, including chapter openers, iconography, and recurring graphic motifs
  • Developed a signature pattern of icons representing relevant careers and a highlighted female figure—used throughout the report to reinforce its themes
  • Built a flexible visual language to scale across 141 pages and multiple asset types
  • Designed supplemental summary, fact sheet, and digital assets to distill key insights for broader audiences

The result? A research report that didn’t just inform—it resonated.

Rebuilding a website to reflect culture and clarity

Their values were clear on the inside—but not online. I restructured the site from scratch to reflect who they really were.

Clarifying a tool with a new brand and UX

The platform was solid. The brand? Not so much. I overhauled the identity and Help Center to make it feel modern and reliable.
