Customer: AAUW

Visualizing the absence of women in leadership

AAUW’s Barriers and Bias: The Status of Women in Leadership set out to confront a persistent issue: why so few women occupy leadership roles across U.S. industries—and what we can do about it. The data was powerful, but the report needed to do more than inform. It had to catch eyes, resonate emotionally, and move through networks far beyond AAUW’s core audience.

The organization wanted a report that looked and felt different—bold, clear, and built for advocacy. My job was to make that happen.

My approach

I led the full visual direction for the report, from layout to infographic development. Here’s what that looked like in practice:

  • Designed the complete 51-page report for digital and print use, using a clean, flexible layout system
  • Created six original infographics—some embedded in the report, others designed specifically for social sharing
  • Developed graphic motifs and iconography to reinforce key themes, including bias, leadership, and systemic barriers
  • Translated dense text and complex data into accessible, brand-aligned visuals
  • Built all files in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator for print readiness and internal use

This wasn’t about decoration. It was about designing for clarity, reach, and long-term utility.

Developed custom infographics for embedded and standalone use

Designed with both narrative flow and social shareability in mind

Why it matters

When the goal is public understanding and policy change, design can’t be an afterthought. I help mission-driven teams transform research into visual systems that inform, resonate, and scale.

Rebuilding a website to reflect culture and clarity

Their values were clear on the inside—but not online. I restructured the site from scratch to reflect who they really were.

Clarifying a tool with a new brand and UX

The platform was solid. The brand? Not so much. I overhauled the identity and Help Center to make it feel modern and reliable.
