Visualizing industry impact through data design
Sonatype’s State of the Software Supply Chain report was full of timely insights, but the gated PDF format limited its reach. It was hard to explore, hard to share, and not built for how people actually consume information today.
We set out to transform the report into something more useful and engaging: a digital-first experience that would support campaigns, amplify Sonatype’s voice, and make the data easier to understand at a glance.

My approach
I partnered with the internal team and agency developers to lead the creative direction and design of the report experience across formats.
Here’s what we did:
- Created a scrollable, chapter-based microsite for easier navigation and visual engagement
- Designed custom infographics, charts, and illustrations to communicate key findings clearly
- Built a visual system that aligned with Sonatype’s brand while elevating the report’s identity
- Directed the creation of supporting assets, including a print-friendly PDF, social graphics, event flyers, and chapter illustrations
- Collaborated across content, marketing, and data teams to ensure narrative clarity and consistency
The result? A report that was easier to explore, share, and cite—and that better reflected Sonatype’s leadership in its space.
